Clinton County is in the northeastern part of New York State, just west of Vermont and south of the Canadian province of Quebec. The eastern boundary of Clinton County is Lake Champlain, which serves as the New York-Vermont border. The Ausable River forms part of the south county line.

Anne Britton

Anne has been not been on this site for awhile and I I was hoping she could provide us an update on her good work and status of things. I think the the two years that these have been operational should provide good data regarding validation of the concerns raised on this site. Personally speaking, these have more than met my own expecations and I haven't found then bothersome at all. No ice throws, no stray voltage, no sound problems, no compliants from neighbors, no wildlife impact and an incredibly positive impact to the farmers here and to the tax base in these lean times. So now that we have real data - how about sharing some thoughts?

Peer Review of Wind Turbine Syndrome

Here's an interesting posting I ran into:

http://www.kselected.com/?p=8225

It points to a pending peer review of Dr. Pierpont's work into Wind Turbine Illness'. This article itself is very biased though as it was written by her husband Dr. Calvin Martin. Hopefully the peer review will be a bit wider audience than friends and relatives.

Chateaugay school construction funded entirely by state, Noble

Just wanted to put in an article about the continued postive impact that these windfarms have had to our community. http://www.pressrepublican.com/homepage/local_story_315215653.html And this project was accomplished without use of local tax dollars.

Wind Farm Payment buyouts

Here's an interesting buyout option coming to the turbine landowners. http://www.pressrepublican.com/archivesearch/local_story_257225219.html

Was wondering if anyone had a view on which way to go?

Personally, I think with the quarterly payments are something to stick with on two fronts:
a)The hidden carbon tax that Obama's admin will enact will create pass thru charges to electricity customers will drive up the electricity rates even in the short term. I think we all know now that wind turbines are a carbon free source of electricity. As the carbon tax won't be applied to this source, it would seem that the revenue from these will potentially increase as the rate charged to consumers increases due to this tax. So what is good should get better.

There is an interesting PBS documentary that is currently showing. Its called Planet Forward. Discussion covers the various alternative energy strategies - including wind. Not surprisingly, the biggest impediment is the bananna attitudes. Not only with with but Solar farms too.

Mr. Formosa

Haha. You're right - the no carbon offset was the absurd position. Perhaps you should listen to the AEP executive who recently said on MAD MONEY that their expanding their wind facility as it allows them to idle down their coal plant when the wind is producing. Are you really seriously expecting that people believe your line of reasoning?

BTW, I've been meaning to ask this - just what is your professional line of work.

School Budgets, windfall from turbine payments

Be interested in any comments about how developer's turbine payments are helping to offset the economic hardships in our communities. In these poor economic times, these payments are truely a blessing for the communities that are lucky enough to host them. While our president, happens to also see benefits with alternative energy - including wind power what he is also proposing is to reduce subsidies to our farming communities.

Sorry to response this way but Effie blocked me from responding. I always have to post a new entry.

Glad to hear a few folks are at least still talking on this site. Can't really say I've heard anything about what you're doing Anne. Its interesting your still having "chapter" meetings with the WOW team. Have you been thru Clinton county these days? The turbine payments are going to go a long way with education when other towns are cutting their budgets.
