It seems this site has been tranformed. No anti-wind bloggers for a long time. I miss the dialogs. Is there no one anymore that feels strongly against this technology? It seems to be the conclusion is that wind has be very good to the north country - especially in these economically challanging times and that the envrionmental fears were just red herrings. If I'm wrong can you speak and and share your experience now that we have 2 years of operational information to draw upon? I'd be interested in hearing how your views have been transformed.

Are fuel additives worth your time and money?
Submitted by jonak on Thu, 08/26/2010 - 9:57pm.There is a very good market for after-market automotive fuel additives, but there are different opinions as to whether such products are necessary. When one considers that most modern gasoline has detergents and some other additives to help clean away engine deposits, spending extra money on additional fuel additives may seem less than essential. The online knowledge base Answer Bag sums up the general consensus on fuel additive validity. For every person who swears by the products that you add to the fuel tank, there are quite a few of other people who suggest that fuel additives are unnecessary.

BUILDING DAMAGE I99 ROUTE 15 ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Submitted by Lindley NY Residen on Tue, 08/10/2010 - 12:10pm.I am the owner of Seasons Motorsports. A destroyed business due to road construction blasting on the I99 Route 15 road construction in Lindley, New York. My building is damaged beyond repair and dangerous to be in. I am unable to open the business because of the extent of the damage. There are 15 total properties that reported damage to their homes including other business owners as well. Dynamite blasting has very strict safety guidelines and safety hazards precautions that must be followed. In this case there were no building inspections to places that should have had them. As well as there were no scheduled line up of blows prior to the first blast including times and dates. Safety whistles were not used for months of blasting. Alerting the general public of a dynamite blast to ensure that no one was in the restricted areas where the blasting was performed, not done. Too much dynamite was used when these guidelines were to be followed and carefully regulated. As a result, it cracked and shook homes foundations beyond repair. The living conditions have been very dangerious to everyone in this community. Contaminated water, fears of gas lines breaking in homes, etc.. Although the complaints have been filed with the appropriate individuals, the blasting continues. My family has been devasted by this. Our credit history has deteriorated and we are struggling to pay our bills. Our insurance company has reported that this type of a situation has never happened before and compared it to Katrina and 9/11. But still, no contact from the NYS DOT or anyone else.

Students pay less interest with banks out of federal loan program
Submitted by teresaP on Thu, 07/22/2010 - 2:15am.Getting government loans for college changed radically on July 1. All federally guaranteed student loans are now issued directly through the Department of Education. Earlier this year, bank lobbyists were outraged when a measure ending their student loan racket was added to the health care reform bill. The government has removed banks as the middleman for federally guaranteed student loans, and ended the billions of taxpayer dollars in subsidies paid to banks for pushing paper on those loans.

Tennessee Flooding - Cumberland River Swamps Nashville
Submitted by Sydni on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 8:57pm.At least 11 people are left dead as parts of the state are drenched with over 20 inches of rain over the weekend in the Tennessee flooding. Tennessee flood warnings from the National Weather Service continue; nevertheless, very little rain is expected for the rest of the week. The Cumberland River swelled to 50 feet above flood stage Monday, and sewer overflow began to flood the streets of Nashville, closing supermarkets, money lenders and other companies and forcing evacuations of schools, hotels and nursing homes.

Arguments For And Against – Cape Wind Project Approved
Submitted by Sydni on Tue, 05/11/2010 - 9:21pm.One of the most hotly debated renewable power projects in the country is Cape Wind. Now the US Department of Interior has approved Cape Wind, the topic of debate is a lot more frantic. If Cape Wind ends up being built, it can be the first offshore wind development to provide cheap power to 3 quarters of the Cape Cod community. Developers have a loan company and a lot technology at the ready, but some of the residents of the shoreline are vowing to fight the development as long as they can.

Anne Britton
Submitted by visitorfromclinton on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 1:17pm.Anne has been not been on this site for awhile and I I was hoping she could provide us an update on her good work and status of things. I think the the two years that these have been operational should provide good data regarding validation of the concerns raised on this site. Personally speaking, these have more than met my own expecations and I haven't found then bothersome at all. No ice throws, no stray voltage, no sound problems, no compliants from neighbors, no wildlife impact and an incredibly positive impact to the farmers here and to the tax base in these lean times. So now that we have real data - how about sharing some thoughts?

Peer Review of Wind Turbine Syndrome
Submitted by visitorfromclinton on Sun, 04/04/2010 - 4:03am.Here's an interesting posting I ran into:
http://www.kselected.com/?p=8225
It points to a pending peer review of Dr. Pierpont's work into Wind Turbine Illness'. This article itself is very biased though as it was written by her husband Dr. Calvin Martin. Hopefully the peer review will be a bit wider audience than friends and relatives.
