I am the owner of Seasons Motorsports. A destroyed business due to road construction blasting on the I99 Route 15 road construction in Lindley, New York. My building is damaged beyond repair and dangerous to be in. I am unable to open the business because of the extent of the damage. There are 15 total properties that reported damage to their homes including other business owners as well. Dynamite blasting has very strict safety guidelines and safety hazards precautions that must be followed. In this case there were no building inspections to places that should have had them. As well as there were no scheduled line up of blows prior to the first blast including times and dates. Safety whistles were not used for months of blasting. Alerting the general public of a dynamite blast to ensure that no one was in the restricted areas where the blasting was performed, not done. Too much dynamite was used when these guidelines were to be followed and carefully regulated. As a result, it cracked and shook homes foundations beyond repair. The living conditions have been very dangerious to everyone in this community. Contaminated water, fears of gas lines breaking in homes, etc.. Although the complaints have been filed with the appropriate individuals, the blasting continues. My family has been devasted by this. Our credit history has deteriorated and we are struggling to pay our bills. Our insurance company has reported that this type of a situation has never happened before and compared it to Katrina and 9/11. But still, no contact from the NYS DOT or anyone else.

Tennessee Flooding - Cumberland River Swamps Nashville
Submitted by Sydni on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 8:57pm.At least 11 people are left dead as parts of the state are drenched with over 20 inches of rain over the weekend in the Tennessee flooding. Tennessee flood warnings from the National Weather Service continue; nevertheless, very little rain is expected for the rest of the week. The Cumberland River swelled to 50 feet above flood stage Monday, and sewer overflow began to flood the streets of Nashville, closing supermarkets, money lenders and other companies and forcing evacuations of schools, hotels and nursing homes.

Renewable Generation
Submitted by wwwJerry on Thu, 04/09/2009 - 4:22pm.The Problem: Today’s power sector emits large quantities of greenhouse gases and relies heavily on carbon-based fuels with volatile and rising prices. The current system is unsustainable, both economically and environmentally. Electricity generation accounts for approximately one-third of America’s global warming pollution. Scientists urgently warn such pollution must be sharply reduced to avert the most serious consequences of climate change. Meanwhile, viable, non-polluting generation alternatives exist to deliver reliable, cost-effective power to meet America’s needs.

Wind Turbines in Europe do nothing for Emissions-Reduction goals
Submitted by formosa on Thu, 03/26/2009 - 10:47pm.By Anselm Waldermann
Despite Europe's boom in solar and wind energy, CO2 emissions haven't been reduced by even a single gram. Now, even the Green Party is taking a new look at the issue -- as shown in e-mails obtained by SPIEGEL ONLINE.
Germany's renewable energy companies are a tremendous success story. Roughly 15 percent of the country's electricity comes from solar, wind or biomass facilities, almost 250,000 jobs have been created and the net worth of the business is €35 billion per year.

Compaint against Visitor aka; Vistorfromclinton
Submitted by formosa on Mon, 03/16/2009 - 11:23am.Hello moderator.
I am complaining about VisitorfromClinton. He continues to misquote my past statements, misquotes positions and is doing so in entries that are little more than personal attacks. His continuous misleading, inaccurate loaded questions amount to little more than "So Formosa, are you still beating your wife?"
I have responded to each of these in the comment section of the charged post. Of course the average reader may not go to the comment section to see my response.

Cohocton Lessor Hal Graham complaining about noise
Submitted by hsb on Sat, 03/14/2009 - 10:18am.Here's a video of Hal Graham, town justice in Cohocton and a land-owner who signed a lease agreement to have wind turbines on his property. He's speaking at a town board meeting, pleading for them to do something to get the turbines shut down, as people are unable to sleep at night. He calls the noise "like a jet engine landing right behind you."

Windmills Split Town and Families
Submitted by hsb on Wed, 08/27/2008 - 2:08pm.Here's a story that has spread across several national news sites regarding the "other side" of the great wind success story at Tug Hill: those left dealing with the noise and shadows from neighboring turbines.

BTW - in case anyone is interested. My own observations are that these turbines are extremely quiet. A fanstastic engineering feat.

More local benefits from the wind energy
Submitted by visitorfromclinton on Sat, 05/03/2008 - 12:00pm.Amazing isn't it? All the early hype about towns not getting any tax benefit seems to have evaporated as the benefits keep pouring in. Here is another recent article about school budgets increasing and taxes decreasing. Wonderful story isn't it?
